Large-scale Russian Attacks Disrupt Power In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced problems to drinking water, as stated by local authorities.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but decisive action - from the United States, Europe and the G7 - in delivering protection systems and enforcing sanctions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen rockets struck the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the urban area experienced heavy assaults overnight. A seven-year-old child was killed and three other people were hurt.

The attacks follow nights of bombing campaigns in the area, sections of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

All of Ukraine is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to spot.

National leaders told journalists that Russia was deliberately attempting to destroy the country's energy grid, with strikes already impacting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and government agencies were anticipating additional strikes.
