Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.

The traitor then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Fans can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
